LAPD Codes

It would be a boring and endless task to give all the LAPD radio codes in use today; these are codes used in the series with their explanations. Each force and even different divisions in the same force have varying shorthand codes, these are the most commonly used in the area that COA is set.

(NB. Shorthand codes are due to be phased out in favour of 'plain' messages that are simple to understand.)

5K90F - LAPD Investigative Services Fugitive Section (The Real FRU)

Code 4A - No Further Assistance but Suspect Still At Large

GOA - Gone On Arrival

187 - Penal Code for a Homicide

10-55D - Request for Coroner

10-4 - Message received

Code 99 - Emergency

Code 100 - In Position To Intercept
